WHEN

The conference will begin at dinner on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 6:30 pm and end around 3 on Sunday, March 30th. Check-in will be from 4-6 pm on Friday.

WHERE
The Conference will take place at Canonicus Camp & Conference Center, 54 Exeter Road, Exeter, Rhode Island. It is an easy drive from NYC, NH, MA, ME, and CT. The closest airport (16.5 miles) for those flying in is TF Green in Warwick. We will be coordinating transport to/from airport as needed (contact us). Check out the website at www.canonicus.org.

Canonicus Camp & Conference Center offers a beautiful and serene setting for many types of events. Set on over 300 acres of meadow and woodland, with a pictureque lake, it is a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday activity.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Connecting, networking, singing, dancing, peace flag making, informative workshops, inspirational speakers, bragging, planning, welcoming spring in the New England woods, children's programming, fun, free time, and YOUR contribution to help make this a great regional conference! The weekend agenda will include keynote speakers: Dot Maver, Educator and Peacebuilder, speaking on "Being the Change & the Global Peace Movement" and Dr. Ed Tick, author of "War and the Soul" speaking on "War and the Soul: Healing Ourselves and the Planet". Workshops will include: NVC, Restorative Justice Practices, Unraveling the Patriarchy for Peace. Breakout sessions will occur throughout the weekend on the DOP legislation, state strategy and planning, and the student peace alliance.

FAMILY-ORIENTED CONFERENCE

A Children's Program will run throughout the weekend and families are encouraged to bring their children. If you would like to assist with the children’s programming and/or offer to assist, please contact us.

LODGING

There are three lodges for our use over the weekend. The main lodge and primary meeting space accommodates 44 people in rooms with private bathrooms in the room, with shared space (3 or 4 twin beds per room). Indicate your roommate choices or we will match you up. Two smaller lodges (Green & Rathbun) are about a 1/4 mile walk away and feature rooms with shared baths (in the hallways) with 3 or 4 twin beds as well as a few bunk beds. These lodges also feature a small kitchenette and living room area. Many are handicap accessible.

FOOD

The camp is known for it's good food and will include meat offerings as well as vegetarian or vegan options. Please let us know if you have any other dietary restrictions.

The conference program fee covers registration packet, conference organization and facilitation, inspirational speakers, informational workshops, children's program supplies, fun/creative activities, contact information for future state/regional planning & networking, and live musical entertainment!

EARLY REGISTRATION offers a $15 discount on the program fees. Please send half your total registration (program fee + accommodation fee by January 31st).

Balance will be due at check-in on Friday, March 28th.

All registrations are needed by March 15th to reserve space at the conference.

LATE REGISTRATION: A $25 late registration fee will be added after March 15th.
